Guess I'm getting new tires.
And apparently no one makes a similar tire anymore. They were 225/70R15 100v's. TireRack gives me these to select from.

Highest speed rating is 'T'. I don't foresee myself exceeding 118mph for any extended period, but that was some sweet 'T'.
edit: seems the 9c1 forums like these
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
anyone have experience with these?

If you want a higher rating, Pep Boys has a H-rated tire
Also, tires are only good for 10 years

Doo eet! I was skimping on tire once, will never do it again.
This is what a perfectly good Mazda 626 looked like after a tire completely disintegrated on me on the Autobahn. Luckily there was heavy traffic, I was only in the right lane and was able to skid the car slowly onto the shoulder.
Pic was obviously taken after the car had been towed and the spare put on. But the tread of the original tire taking a looksy where the indicator should be might give you a hint.

Lightning bolts on your tires is never a good thing.

Wow, how old are those? Age is just as important as wear when it comes to tire health.

I found the missing piece and put it back on with a drill and zipties. It even passed the notorious TÜV inspection like that. Albeit on the promise that I do something about the airbag warning light...

If that's true — if those are your tires — then maybe your best course would be to
tread lightly.

I'm having a hell of a time finding tires for OEM E30 M3 wheels as well. In stock 205/55-15 you can have Kumho Ecsta 4X or Dunlop Direzza DZ101s, that's it.
At the more common 225/50-15 you can put on the stock rims, you have a $1200 set of Pirelli P Zeros.
I'd give anything if Michelin made Pilot Super Sports in 15".

They've been on there for at least the 5 years I've had the car.

Just do it like Burt Munro and use shoe polish to pass inspection.

Thanks. The higher rating certainly isn't necessary, but it's nice have just in case.

Jeez. Yeah, I'm gonna try and avoid that happening. I just noticed this, but won't be driving it until I get new ones. You were quite lucky, that could have gone a different route.

You'd think there'd be more tires for a collectable car like that. I'm pretty much stuck with Kumho, Firestone or Maxxis(suggested by dogisbadob)

Wow, if tires go 3 years around my place they are considered ancient and sent into retirement. You must not drive a lot or push the car much... I don't see throwing a vehicle into a corner fast with 5+ year old tires.

A pun and sage advice in one. I commend you, and unfortunately that is my tire.

It actually passed inspection about two months ago. They didn't look like this then.

On my dd I'd be lucky to get three years. This car doesn't get driven hard(occassional Italian tuneup on highway) or often, but I agree about the tires past 5 years. I actually just got this back on the road after it sitting for about 3 years, and knew new tires would be a fast approaching inevitability.

What car is it? Can you get a similar overall diameter tire playing with section width to aspect ratio but open up more options?

It's a Caprice 9C1. How much of difference is generally allowed?
